The Aiken area was America’s frontier in the 1680s and became the Southern gateway across the Savannah River to the West. At one time, the local historical site of Savannah Town in 1681 was the English Empire’s most Western outpost in current-day America. Fur traders traveled as far as the Mississippi River and into the Appalachian Mountains to trade, then returned to rendezvous at Savannah Town.

The early years featured wars with Native Americans. At different times, five different Native tribes had settlements in the current Aiken area. One tribe was even granted one of South Carolina’s first Native American reservations along the local Horse Creek.

There is no admission fee to participants. Free campsites with water are available to all participants. Soldiers may participate in scenarios, firing demonstrations, and skirmishes.

Participants must meet at the pavilion at 9 AM  on Saturday and Sunday for a Safety Meeting and to review the day’s schedule.

Registration is simple. Just email and let us know you are coming and describe your portrayal. Email to battleofaiken@aol.com or mail to BOA, Box 1863, Aiken SC 29803.
