5th Annual Aiken Wild West Fest!

 Frontier and Western Days

The Aiken Wild West Fest, Frontier and Western Days event invites all living historians from the 1750 to 1918 time frame to participate in the event. The event annually commemorates the frontier life and military service of this period and the Western expansion.

The Aiken area was the frontier in the 1700s and became the Southern gateway across the Savannah River to the West. At one time, the local historical site of Savannah Town in 1681 was the English Empire’s most Western outpost in current-day America. Fur traders traveled as far as the Mississippi River and into the Appalachian Mountains to trade, then returned to rendezvous at Savannah Town.

The early years featured wars with Native Americans. At different times, five different Native tribes had settlements in the current Aiken area. One tribe was even granted one of South Carolina’s first Native American reservations along the local Horse Creek.

The event welcomes Military Time Line reenactors, including Colonial, Revolutionary, Civil War, Western, World War One, and other soldiers from the 1750 to 1918 period. Free campsites with water are available. Soldiers may participate in scenarios, firing demonstrations, and skirmishes.

All Civilian and Native American impressions are welcome including Mountain Men, Pioneers, Fur Traders, Cowboys, and Lawmen. Cavalry with horses are needed. Living historians presenting Women’s frontier life and crafts are welcome.

Registration is simple. Just email and let us know you are coming and describe your portrayal. Email to or mail to BOA, Box 1863, Aiken SC 29803. There is no registration fee! All campsites have water.
